Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchaser is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and services for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, strong proficiency in Viewpoint and Coupa, and a solid background in the construction industry. This position is based in Calgary, AB. What You Will Be Working On Procurement Management - Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for projects. - Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and favorable terms. - Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine the need for changes. ERP / Procurement Platform Proficiency - Utilize Viewpoint and Coupa to manage purchase orders, requisitions, and procurement workflows. - Ensure all purchasing activities are accurately recorded in Viewpoint/Coupa and aligned with company policies and procedures. Supplier Relationship Management - Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to facilitate effective communication and issue resolution. - Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to ensure high standards are met. Cost Control - Analyze market trends to identify potential cost savings and improvements in procurement processes. - Monitor and control procurement budgets to ensure alignment with project financial goals. Quality Assurance - Ensure all purchased materials and services meet required quality standards and specifications. - Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, and QA teams to address any quality issues promptly. Documentation & Reporting - Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements. - Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance. What We Are Looking For Education - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. - Working towards or completion of SMT or SCMP designation is highly desirable. Experience - 3–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within construction. Equivalent experience within the mechanical and/or electrical trades is also considered an asset. Skills - Strong negotiation and communication skills. - Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Additional Requirements - In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices. - Familiarity with electrical construction materials, equipment, and industry standards. - Experience purchasing mechanical equipment and materials is a strong asset, as the role supports both mechanical and electrical scopes.
