What You Would Do in This Role
Work within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects
Enforce timely and cost‑effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and proper procurement practices
Develop and maintain status reports
Develop procurement plans and strategy documents
Review and evaluate standard procurement documents, including bid lists, requests for quotation / proposal and commercial bid evaluations
Oversee purchase of complex engineered equipment and services as well as electrical, instrumentation, structural steel and piping commodity materials
Oversee negotiation of commercial terms, including progress payments and terms and conditions
Attend status meetings with clients, project management and suppliers
Develop man‑hour estimates, resource plans, schedules and relevant procurement procedures
Periodically review departmental processes, procedures and standards, identify areas of improvement, deficiencies and take corrective action to maintain quality
Plan, schedule and manage responsibilities, objectives and project milestones for the team
Manage performance of the team, including mentoring and coaching direct reports
Provide input to, and participate in, Human Resources activities, including recruitment, terminations and discipline
Perform other duties as requested
Requirements
More than ten (10) years of procurement experience, with a minimum of six years at a supervisory level in an engineering, procurement, construction environment
Demonstrated advanced negotiating experience
Post‑secondary certification or equivalent experience
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
Ability to adapt in a changing environment
Ability to work without supervision
Strong computer processing skills; competency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Focus on quality with an acute attention to detail
Solid communication and influencing skills
Preferred
Only candidates located in Canada will be considered and this position is not eligible for relocation accommodation
