Senior Backend Developer - Remote Working (Calgary)

Overview Nialli is looking for a highly motivated senior backend developer to work closely with our UX, AI, and React Development teams. We are developing Nialli™ products and services that provide visual collaboration applications for highly secure enterprise environments. Hosted on Microsoft® Azure, our solutions integrate with existing tools and offer a simple, secure collaborative workspace for both in-person and remote scenarios. Responsibilities Deliver products from requirements through design, implementation, and release using a continuous delivery approach with automated, repeatable, and reliable releases. Identify, document, and defend against potential security vulnerabilities. Design and evolve scalable backend architectures and APIs. Own key services in production, ensuring reliability, performance, and operational health. Suggest design changes based on personal experience. Collaborate with front-end and AI developers to deliver the right data at the right time in an Agile environment. Perform feature deconstruction and development across all application layers. Implement designs alongside the UX team, AI, React, and backend developers. Research new technologies and introduce current ideas to support the team. Conduct code reviews. Champion Nialli processes and developer guidelines. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. 7+ years of backend development experience, including design and operation of production systems at scale. Solid understanding of programming fundamentals. Strong problem‑solving abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to thrive on the unknown and embrace new challenges. Current knowledge of rapidly changing technologies. Experience Languages and frameworks: C#, .NET Core 8+, Redis. Messaging patterns (e.g., pub/sub, queues) using tools such as NServiceBus, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus. MS SQL design, normalization, performance tuning. Layered RESTful API architectures, microservices. Docker, Docker-Compose, and containerized applications. Common/modern design patterns and software architecture. Azure DevOps. AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, M365 Copilot) to improve productivity and code quality. Visual Studio 2026. Git/GitFlow. MS Teams/remote collaboration. Agile methodologies. Running and troubleshooting distributed systems in production environments. Nice to have JIRA. Experience in multi‑user web environments. Experience building web applications (as opposed to just websites). Knowledge of React. Experience building multi‑tenant SaaS applications. Experience with high‑availability and distributed systems design. Experience with cloud‑native architectures in Azure. Experience optimizing database performance at scale.
