Manager, Project Job Details | Aecon (Calgary)

What Is The Opportunity? The Project Manager is responsible for the overall execution of one or more projects in a safe and profitable manner, ensuring consistency with the company strategy and commitment to goals. The role will oversee projects up to $10M+ in the Calgary and surrounding areas and will be based out of our Quarry Park office in Calgary, Alberta. Regular travel to site on a daily basis is required. What You'll Do Here: - Lead by example, ensuring adherence to Aecon’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System. - Develop, submit, and assess Health and Safety Plans, Environmental Construction Operating Plans, Quality Management Plans and Traffic Accommodation Strategies. - Understand and interpret project estimates. - Accurately interpret and comprehend contract drawings and specifications. - Prepare work schedules and coordinate project staff. - Provide onsite management of crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and all other resources to complete the job. - Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications and construction schedules. - Ensure that contracts are kept current and updated with change orders on a regular basis. - Track and understand daily, weekly, and monthly pay quantities and cost reports. - Chair meetings and lead discussions with defined outcomes. - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. What You Bring to the Team: - Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma, or equivalent training and experience. - A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager, or a combination of civil construction experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Engineer. - Knowledge of City of Calgary and surrounding area projects and specifications. - Experience with asphalt paving, concrete, earthworks, and underground construction. - Capability to read and understand construction drawings and documents. - Solid oral and written communication skills. - Self‑motivated with good organizational skills. - Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as required. - Ability to work collaboratively with others, effectively prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. - Compliance with the company’s drug & alcohol program, including testing requirements. - Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
