As the Electrical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling major Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) asset maintenance and rehabilitation activities to support reliable Water Treatment Plant operations. While the role has a strong focus on electrical and instrumentation systems. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Capital Maintenance, and Utilities Delivery teams to ensure effective execution. Key responsibilities include Improve the cost effectiveness of plant maintenance and rehabilitation operations and extend the service life of plant assets, with a focus on Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;). Deliver capital maintenance projects, including shutdown coordination, development of technical specifications, contractor oversight, commissioning support, and contract administration for all Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;). Provide plant maintenance engineering and asset management technical support for water treatment plant operation and maintenance, particularly related to power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation. Support troubleshooting and reliability improvements for Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) failures, recurring alarms, and safety critical assets. For all Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) Lead equipment reliability studies: Equipment criticality assessments, PM Optimization as well as Failure Modes & effect analysis (FMEA). Monitor current maintenance systems to understand equipment downtime, and PM program effectiveness. Determine and investigate causes of equipment downtime / failures. Leads and facilitates root cause analyses to identify and implement corrective actions. Research, develop, implement, and support the understanding of asset management concepts, including risk-based maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance. Review and trend equipment performance data for assigned equipment scopes from completed corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance work orders and identifies early indications of declining equipment performance. Review and maintain asset life-cycle profiles for key assets, analyze historical asset performance data, and develop long-term rehabilitation strategies. Support Responsibilities Assist Maintenance Planners with the development and monitoring of preventive, predictive maintenance plans, and spare parts planning. Support the Maintenance team by providing technical guidance, work package clarification, and engineering support during maintenance and rehabilitation activities. Support City of Calgary's Asset Management group's goals and initiatives. Assist in building annual Maintenance budgets for Water Treatment plants. Qualifications A degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use. Strong electrical engineering background, including experience with: Power distribution systems, MCCs, VFDs, motors, and electrical protection Instrumentation, sensors, and field devices Knowledge of asset life-cycle management, reliability engineering, and predictive condition-based maintenance techniques is considered an asset. Experience in water or industrial utility environments, or regulated process industries, is considered an asset. Project management experience, including working with contractors and multidisciplinary teams, is considered an asset. You are an excellent communicator who works effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You are able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and remain results-driven. You demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, assess, and apply recent industrial technologies and best practices. Software experience with Maximo, MS Office including Visio, Excel, Project and Word is an asset. Strong commitment to Safety & Environmental issues is a requirement. Working Conditions: This position works in a Water treatment plant, where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
