Intermediate Ecologist (Calgary)

SLR Canada is looking for a full-time Intermediate Ecologist to be based in our Calgary office. Additional locations in Alberta will be considered for the right candidate. Responsibilities - Lead and/or support monitoring programs, environmental assessments, and permitting related to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem components. - Field work including environmental sampling and assessments: some local, and some remote requiring travel for up to two weeks or more at a time. - Environmental data entry, management, and analysis, and report writing. Qualifications - Bachelor of Science Degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field. - Experience in wetland identification, delineation, and classification in accordance with the 2015 Alberta Wetland Classification System. - Vegetation identification experience is considered an asset. - Membership (or eligible for membership) as a P.Biol. - Familiarity with field sampling and assessment methods. - Knowledge of AB, SK, MB species and ecosystems. - Availability and flexibility to travel for fieldwork. - Wilderness/backcountry experience; comfortable working in a remote field setting. - Proficiency with MS Word and Excel, managing large datasets, and conducting analyses using R or other statistical software. - Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in Alberta (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
