About the Role
As a CAD Designer (Technologist) at Onterris, you will be based in our Calgary or Edmonton office, assisting multiple civil design projects and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, regulatory agencies, and clients. Compensation ranges from $31.00 to $55.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Responsibilities
Prepare clear, accurate CAD drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Build surfaces, alignments, profiles, sections, corridors, grading plans, and 3D models from survey data, LiDAR, and field inputs. Produce plan, profile, and cross‑section drawings for design and construction packages. Interpret survey data, field notes, UAV imagery, and site photography to support design and as‑built deliverables. Complete material take‑offs to support quantity and cost estimates. Perform QA/QC on drawings. Keep work clean, consistent, and aligned with CAD standards. Coordinate with engineers, scientists, surveyors, and clients to keep projects moving. Help improve CAD standards, workflows, and efficiency. Share knowledge and support junior team members in a practical, team‑first way. Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field. 2+ years of CAD or civil design experience, ideally in consulting. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D. Interest or experience in water resources, municipal, or environmental projects. Careful work habits and strong attention to detail. Ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines. Clear, direct communication and a collaborative mindset. Special Considerations
Field experience (survey, construction support, or site work) and a valid Class5 driver’s licence, with willingness to travel for field work when needed. Erosion and sediment control experience. Experience with PCSWMM or similar stormwater modelling tools. Experience with GlobalMapper. Equal Prospect Employer
