Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $130,000.00 Annually
Barrday is a leading advanced materials solutions company whose product lines encompass applications for the composite and protective markets. We are headquartered outside of Toronto, Canada in Cambridge, ON, with manufacturing facilities in Charlotte, NC and Millbury, MA. Our growth strategies are based on developing technologically advanced fiber reinforcement, prepreg and other material solutions for our customers in the aerospace, military/defense, energy, industrial and protective markets.
Position Overview We are seeking a hands‑on, driven Production Manager to lead daily operations across multiple coating lines in a fast‑paced, high‑mix manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality production of advanced materials used in aerospace and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can balance floor presence with operational discipline, drive accountability, and continuously improve throughput, quality, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise production teams across multiple coating lines operating 24/5
Drive daily execution to meet production schedules, output targets, and on‑time delivery
Monitor and improve labor efficiency, uptime, and throughput
People Management
Directly manage shift supervisors and production personnel
Set clear expectations and hold team accountable to performance standards
Coach, train, and develop employees; build bench strength for future growth
Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management
Operational Excellence
Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in production processes
Partner with Engineering to improve process stability and reduce variability
Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, waste reduction, cycle time improvements)
Quality&Compliance
Ensure adherence to quality standards, including aerospace requirements (AS9100)
Partner with Quality to address non‑conformances and implement corrective actions
Maintain strong discipline around documentation, traceability, and process control
Safety&Environmental
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety protocols
Work closely with EH&S to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Collaborate with Scheduling, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Shipping to ensure smooth flow of materials and orders
Communicate production status, risks, and recovery plans clearly to leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
5–10+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in coatings, textiles, composites, or similar process industries
3+ years of leadership experience in a production environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English).
Materials/composite industry experience would be an asset
Familiarity with regulated environments (aerospace, ISO, AS9100) is a plus
Strong floor presence– leads from the front, not behind a desk
High accountability– owns results and drives issues to closure
Process‑oriented but practical – balances structure with execution
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making ability
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent communication across all levels of the organization
Working Conditions Primarily plant floor; some office and computer time. Exposure to noise and some chemical products in conditions where all appropriate protective equipment is available.
Access to medical, dental, vision insurance with wellness incentives.
401(k) matching options.
Free life insurance, disability insurance and more.
Tuition assistance.
Paid holidays + PTO.
Equal Opportunity Employer, including Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
