Roadtrek Inc., a leading Canadian RV manufacturer, is home to two iconic brands—Roadtrek and Westfalia. With a focus on innovation and quality and supported by our strong dealer network across North America, we design and deliver Class B motorhomes designed to inspire outdoor exploration and adventure. We are recruiting an experienced and talented Mechanical Designer to join our team of professionals. In this role, the ideal candidate will work closely with our engineering and production teams to develop, review, and improve detailed designs, enhance product functionality, and ensure manufacturability. You will be responsible for creating technical drawings, 3D models, and design solutions that meet industry standards and customer expectations, including implementing necessary design revisions and updating bills of materials (BOMs). This permanent, on-site position reports to the R&D; Manager and is located in Cambridge, Ontario. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and refine new product features, accessories, and components using SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and technical drawings. - Prepare detailed design specifications, technical reports, and calculations to support engineering decisions and product approvals. - Analyze and improve existing designs for functionality, manufacturability, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards (CSA, UL, FMVSS, CMVSS, RVIA, NFPA). - Prototype, test, and validate new and updated designs, and implement them into production. - Select materials, define tolerances and fit (GD&T;), and perform stress, load, and thermal analysis to ensure performance and reliability. - Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and cross-functional teams (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Production, QA) to optimize manufacturability, compliance, and quality. - Create, update, and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and CAD libraries; communicate design changes to relevant teams. - Plan and schedule design projects, estimate costs, and manage resources to meet timelines. - Drive cost reduction, weight optimization, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement of product lines. - Investigate production issues and provide solutions to support service/warranty teams. - Utilize Excel, MS Project, and other tools to track, report, and manage design projects. - Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards; perform other duties as assigned. - Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and industry regulations. Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. - 3–5 years of technical design experience; experience in Electrical (12V, 24V, 120V), Cabinet, Plumbing, or Propane system design is an asset. - Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modeling required). - Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask and prioritize effectively. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project). - Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work independently or collaboratively.
