Description
Sr. Mechanical Engineer Position Overview As a key member of the Engineering team, you will play an integral role in achieving the following objectives: - Develop robust engineering designs with a robust focus on manufacturability, cost control, and adherence to project timelines - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce and eliminate non-conformances (NCRs) - Support overall project success through collaboration with manufacturing and project management teams Key Responsibilities - Lead and execute engineering design activities, including: - Structural (static) design - Material selection - Machine dynamics analysis - Fabrication and manufacturability design - Power transmission component selection - Design validation and verification - Creation of detailed drawing packages - Bill of Materials (BOM) development - Acceptance test procedure development - Project documentation - Ensure all designs meet defined technical requirements, budgets, and schedules - Apply company and industry standards throughout the design process - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement) to ensure design intent is maintained through production - Contribute to the development of high-quality technical solutions - Mentor and support junior engineers and designers, promoting best practices and adherence to design standards - Conduct peer reviews of engineering drawings, calculations, and related documentation - Act as a technical liaison between engineering and manufacturing across both facilities (Grimsby and Hamilton) Qualifications, Skills & Abilities - Proficiency in SolidWorks (formal training preferred); experience with simulation tools is an asset - Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - Demonstrated experience in the design of hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, including manufacturability, fabrication processes, and GD&T - Ability to perform engineering calculations related to machine design (e.G., speed, force, torque, power, pressure) - Strong organizational and time management skills - Excellent written and verbal communication abilities - Analytical and creative problem-solving mindset - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Education & Experience - Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in the design of custom industrial equipment - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology - Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) designation is considered an asset Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2o0gzs
