Compensation&Benefits
Pay Rate: $112,000 - $154,000

Role Overview Assembly Manager leads a cross‑functional team of exceptional skilled trades professionals in the execution of complex, custom automation projects within a fast‑paced, project‑based manufacturing environment.
This role is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while driving team performance, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across assembly operations.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring active presence on the production floor, strong engagement with project teams, and ownership of both people and project outcomes.
Specific Responsibilities
Lead and inspire a multi‑layer team structure, guiding group leaders and skilled trades teams to successfully execute complex automation builds
Drive project execution excellence, ensuring all assembly activities align to defined schedules, resource plans, and budget targets
Own delivery performance, ensuring projects meet critical KPIs including budget adherence and schedule commitments
Partner with Project Managers and cross‑functional stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and execute assembly activities across multiple projects
Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement, leveraging the team’s technical expertise to solve problems efficiently
Maintain a strong floor presence, actively supporting teams during build, integration, and debug phases to remove barriers and drive progress
Lead build planning and execution, ensuring group leaders have clear direction, realistic plans, and support to meet project milestones
Ensure high‑quality standards by proactively identifying design or manufacturing issues and collaborating with Engineering to resolve them early
Drive safe and efficient operations, embedding health&safety as a daily leadership behavior and operational priority
Oversee resource planning and workload balancing, optimizing labor utilization and minimizing overtime while maintaining productivity
Provide clear and consistent performance feedback, coaching, and development to team members and group leaders
Act as a central point of coordination across departments, ensuring alignment between assembly, fabrication, electrical, controls, and project teams
Support successful system integration, debug, and customer acceptance, ensuring equipment meets functional, safety, and performance requirements
Lead installation and commissioning readiness, ensuring efficient tear‑down, shipping, and reassembly at customer sites
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including manufacturing processes, safety practices, and operational efficiency
Project Execution&Operational Leadership
Track and manage project schedules, build plans, and resource allocation within a project-based environment
Collaborate with group leaders to develop, maintain, and adjust build plans as project needs evolve
Monitor progress and proactively resolve execution challenges impacting schedule or budget
Provide regular project status visibility and reporting to leadership
HSE
Conduct regular safety walks and safety discussions with team members
Maintain an active leadership presence on the production floor, reinforcing safe work practices daily
Ensure all work is performed in full compliance with ATS safety standards, procedures, and legislative requirements
Drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
Lead by example, embedding safety as a core operational priority and team expectation
Qualifications Education
Combination of technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience considered
A Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician, Machinist or Tool and Die Maker is an asset
Experience
Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, production, or technical environments
Minimum 10+ years of experience in automation or manufacturing
Experience leading skilled trades teams in a project‑based environment strongly preferred
Previous experience organizing and leading skilled trades to assemble and deliver industrial equipment or automation preferred.
Health&Safety Requirements
Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance.
Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process.
Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained.
Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements.
Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition.
Attend HSE Due Diligence for Management training sessions.
