Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Site Assistant to support our construction projects. This role involves assisting with various tasks on-site, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in construction and possess foundational skills in building and site management. This position offers valuable hands-on experience across multiple facets of construction work, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their careers in the industry. Duties - Assist with reading and interpreting construction drawings to understand project requirements. - Support the Site Supervisor in coordinating trades and scheduling work activities. - Ensure all safety regulations and company policies are followed on-site. - Support other trades by preparing materials and tools needed for daily tasks. - Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely under supervision. - Participate in construction painting, caulking, and restoration projects to improve site quality. - Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and in proper working condition. - Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members professionally. - Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency on site. - Support the installation of flooring, tiles, cabinetry, or other fixtures as directed by supervisors. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required (post-secondary education in construction or related field is considered an asset) - Previous experience in the construction industry required - Valid G Class driver’s license required - Flexible and able to travel daily to various assigned job sites - WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Safety Awareness certifications are considered assets - Experience with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation is a plus. - Familiarity with construction methods such as concrete forming, finishing, masonry, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, welding, or flooring installation is advantageous. - Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while working around construction sites. - Solid work ethic with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. - Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential. - Prior experience in construction or related fields is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate. - Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions is required. This role provides an excellent foundation for individuals interested in building a career in construction through practical experience across multiple disciplines within the industry.
