Mechanical Planner
you will be responsible for the following: Primary Accountabilities:
Support weekly workflow and outage planning, including scoping work, developing technical work packages, coordinating operational items, contractor planning, and enhancing preventative maintenance efficiencies. Maintain the preventative maintenance system by updating, scheduling, issuing work orders and check sheets, and tracking and reporting completion.Assist in creating and maintaining annual shutdown schedules and integrate shutdown schedules into the overall plant outage schedule. This includes issuing work packages to crews, generating update reports, and monitoring financial obligations for work spend. Procure materials based on scoped work, including entering purchase requisitions for parts and maintaining work order status updates.Coordinate with the Planning Group, at the Lingan Generating team, and other internal and external stakeholders to optimize planned work and ensure it is integrated into workflows. Secondary Accountabilities:
Attend and host planning meetings. Provide support for programs required to plan and execute operational and capital project work, including NSPI's Contractor Safety program. Prioritize regular travel to various NS Power sites across the province as required. You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure. Possess either a Certification as a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic or a 2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate (or equivalent certifications) with a minimum of three (3) years' work experience in modern mechanical maintenance in a generating station, process industry or equivalent industry, OR Hold a Mechanical Engineering degree eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia, or Certified Engineering Technologist, or a Technology Diploma in a related field.Strong mechanical expertise in troubleshooting and problem solving. Proven experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Proficiency in MS Office suite. Experience:
Developed detailed job scope(s) for mechanical or industrial work. Project management experience in high-volume, deadline-oriented environments. Relevant experience in skilled maintenance roles, particularly in maintaining heavy industrial equipment in modern power generating facilities or similar industrial settings.Maintenance planning and supervisory experience an asset. Skills:
Strong organizational, communication and time management skills. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including building partnerships across functional groups. Energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner.Exceptional communication and facilitation skills with a strong customer focus.
