Job Summary:
Full time permanent Intermediate/Secondary Math and Science Classroom Teacher position. Duties commence September 8, 2026. As the successful candidate, you are committed to furthering the goals for student success in an inclusive, safe and caring environment. You subscribe to a "students first" philosophy in your practice and believe that collaboration is key for your growth as an educator.
In an interview, candidates should be prepared to speak about their experience and demonstrated competencies in relation to the 8 Standards of Practice for Classroom Teachers.
Know learners and how they learn
Know the content and teaching strategies
Ability to plan and implement effective, responsive, teaching and learning
Ability to assess, provide feedback, and report on student learning
Ability to create and maintain supportive, safe, and inclusive environments
Ability to engage collaboratively with families and the school community
Demonstrates a growth mindset
Demonstrates professionalism
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Engage professionally with colleagues, families and communities.
Demonstrate the planning and implementation of effective and responsive teaching and learning practices.
Provide evidence of how to shape a safe and positive learning environment for students and families.
Demonstrate a love of learning and an ability to build learner and leadership capacity.
Provide evidence and understanding of the impact of effective assessment practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education
NL Teaching Certificate - Level IV or higher
Appropriate Training Methods
Major (10 courses) and Minor (6 courses) as noted above in applicable subject area
Equivalencies will be considered
Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.
Applicants without the required qualifications may be considered in accordance with Clause 37.01 (d) of the provincial collective agreement.
