Position Title: Substitute School Food Service Worker Location: Reading Community City Schools / Reading, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $14.00/Hour Pay increases may apply for long-term substitute assignments depending on placement About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dependable, hardworking Substitute Food Service Workers to support school nutrition teams during staff absences. This position plays an important role in ensuring students receive nutritious, safe, and timely meals while maintaining a clean and efficient cafeteria environment.Key Responsibilities Prepare and portion meals according to established menus and serving guidelines Serve food to students in a courteous and efficient manner Operate kitchen equipment safely while following all food safety procedures Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, serving lines, and cafeteria spacesWash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipment as needed Set up and break down serving stations and cafeteria lines Follow district food safety, sanitation, and nutrition policies Assist with stocking, organizing, and tracking food inventory and supplies Collaborate with kitchen staff and school personnel to support daily operationsProvide positive and helpful customer service to students and staff Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Successful completion of required background screening Enrollment in Ohio ID account and Rapback program (as required) Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentBasic understanding of food handling safety and sanitation practices Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies or equipment as needed Reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in food service, cafeteria work, or customer service roles Familiarity with safe food handling procedures Experience operating standard kitchen equipment What We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling Opportunities to gain experience in school nutrition servicesPotential for long-term substitute placements Pathways to other school-based positions Access to optional medical benefit programs Enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
