Production Manager (Chatham-Kent)

About the role/firmThe Production Manager ensures production of quality products to meet production plans, resolves plant problems, and optimises plant operations in a protected and environmentally responsible manner. In this role, the Production Manager is the technical focal point in process engineering and process control for the firm’s Sombra Process Operators and provides leadership through the Production Supervisor to the Sombra Process Operators. The position is responsible for integrating and managing operational support functions at the Hamilton facility, including HSSE and Quality Management Systems.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesPromotes and supports the concepts of a learning organization, continuous improvement and teamwork. Assists in the supervision and coordination of activities of the Sombra Operations Team.Coordination and management of plant operational functions:Day‑to‑day activities to ensure safe, environmentally sound and efficient plant operationsResponsible to ensure HSSE performance and compliance for our Sombra Operations TeamAnalyze, coach and correct employee behaviour as their mentorProvides recommendations for promotions, termination, advanced training, work allocation and personnel problem resolutionEnsures the proper management of employees’ hours of work, including timesheets and vacation coverage, attendance management and scheduling of shiftsAnalyze and eliminate inefficiencies in plant operationsRecommends courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve operational efficiency, control production costsFrom time to time, coordinates and oversees activities of contractors, vendor personnel and suppliers as requiredAssists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expendituresEnsures the maintenance of logs and records of plant operations to include historical process data and prepares reports for the Operations Manager and the Plant ManagerAssists in the operational readiness drills to ensure that the Sombra Operations Team and emergency procedures meet the government and the firm’s standards of readinessAssists in the development, coordination, implementation, validation and ongoing administration of the following operational support systems:HSSE Program:Ensures compliance with all FORGE Sombra HSSE proceduresCollection of Monthly Safety StatisticsManagement Lead Representative on JHSCCoordinate inspections of all safety systems within designated timeframesPoint person for internal incident reporting and follow‑upCoordinate internal and external safety auditsEmergency Response Training and PreparationCoordinate Environmental Reporting:NPRIMECP Yearly ReportRPRA ManagementTraining Program and Administration:Maintenance of The Firms Sombra/Corporate – Training MatrixPlan and coordinate all safety and environmental training both internal and externalLogistics Administration:Coordinate and monitor plans:Weekly Production PlanWeekly Feedstock PlanWeekly Chemical Delivery PlanWeekly Terminal Services PlansCoordination of Terminal Services activitiesWithin the above scope, develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Operations Work Instructions (OWI).Ongoing review/validation of SOPs and implementation of updatesAssist in the development of the Firms Sombra training plan to include:Initial training for all new employeesContinuous, refresher trainingAdvanced trainingThe Firms Sombra certification program for each position levelOngoing HSSE TrainingSombra operational evaluations and exercisesMinimum Qualifications and SkillsThis position requires a technical degree, in engineering or a similar discipline preferably chemical engineering and 10 years working in an industrial environment.Excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent analytical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management skillsExcellent work prioritization skills#J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2oboe5
