Job Summary: This role provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance department and its staff members. This is a three-shift rotation position with a two week rotation.
Required Education and Experience
Millwright and/or Electrical and/or Tool&Die trades certification and/or combination of 5-10 years of Supervisory/ management experience in a manufacturing environment
Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
Basic knowledge in computer software for windows
Working knowledge of E-Maintenance or similar maintenance program would be preferred
Knowledge of IATF certifications and audits
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong leadership and problem solving skills
Excellent knowledge in operating maintenance tools and equipment
Press Experience would be an asset.
Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
Knowledge of automotive industry processes and operations
Experienced in working in unionized environment
Essential Functions
Assists the Manager by overseeing the Maintenance Department (all trades) on his/her shift.
Provides a PM schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs.
Coverage for other supervisor absences.
Ensures all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime.
Analyses machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems.
Ensures production/ maintenance area meets or exceeds labour standards.
Ensures availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime.
Maintains maintenance related records as required.
Trains, develops, mentors, directs and discipline subordinates of the department, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, to ensure a productive, efficient and competent workforce to meet scheduled requirements in a safe environment.
Provides regular constructive feedback and communication to subordinates on company policies, procedures and work standards etc. and ensures adherence to policies and procedures at all times.
Ensures all training within the department is completed in a timely manner and documented.
Co-ordinates with outside contractors on any facility installations and sources the most effective repairs and upgrade costs.
Knowledgeable and in constant review of Customer Specific Requirement as applicable.
Ensures housekeeping inspections are conducted and all areas are tidy and organized at all times.
Ensures plant security.
Contributes to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job.
Abides by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook.
