THE POSITION: Reporting to the Director of Global Die Manufacturing - CPM, the Plant Manager is accountable for secure, efficient and cost-effective operations to ensure achievement of company objectives as well as consistent achievement of customer product quality and on-time delivery. He/she will provide leadership, direction, decision making, and stability for all plant employees including, maintenance, production, process, warehousing & shipping, quality control, inventory control and will work extensively and collaboratively with the engineering and order processing teams in CPM Americas locations. This position is responsible for the planning and direction of all manufacturing activities for the manufacture of pellet mill dies at the Dorssers facility in Blenheim, Ontario Canada. Duties and responsibilities will include supervision and coordination of activities and personnel. As you learn the business there will be a lot of detailed hands-on time in learning and improving existing processes while building and training your team. This is a small facility, so we all wear many hats, and a bias for action on the floor is critical in this role. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work collaboratively and assure plant operations complies with all regulatory requirements; ensure a vigorous Safety Program is in place and executed Develop plant objectives, priorities and operating plan targets including key metrics and implementation of same. Deploy these goals and priorities to staff and manage team activities to achieve objectives Evaluate and continuously improve plant operations and facility, including EHS, quality, productivity, and profitability. Coordinate and manage changes including perspectives from key stakeholders Consistently and proactively promote a company culture that embraces integrity, teamwork, customer focus, learning and teaching, innovation, accountability, respect, inclusiveness, and perseverance Establish and implement effective communication plans with sales management, companion plants, and engineering to ensure all employees are current on key initiatives and have an opportunity to ask questions Actively participate in the recruiting and onboarding new employees to develop culture and implement actions to reduce employee turnover. Represent CPM to the community and develop relationships with local groups to advance the workforce Assist in capital planning and build your team to flesh out a traditional manufacturing organization structure to support 25% capacity growth Additionally responsible for management, oversight and supervision for: Production Engineering & Maintenance Process Control Quality Control Purchasing & Inventory Control Labor Relations THE QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 7 years of planning and plant production management experience in related industry in a job shop environment Significant experience with metal machining. Understanding materials flow and purchasing supply chain in a manufacturing facility is essential to success in this role Experience using MRP/ERP systems is critical, implementation experience is helpful Technical experience and completion of relevant manufacturing management training programs helpful Strong background in Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Corrective Action, Problem Solving and Waste Elimination/Process Improvement is important Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technical field THE PERSON: The successful candidate must be a strong cultural fit and bring high level of ethical, intellectual, professional and personal values that complement the team and company culture. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully manage staff at all levels to achieve plant goals. Assertive in style, but respectful of others, and skilled in navigating competing organizational priorities and agendas. Strong relationship builder with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate staff, facilitate change, and influence peers.
