Arts and Recreation Leader Job Type Seasonal / Full-Time / Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Position Details - Position Title: Arts and Recreation Leader - Number of Positions: 3 - Duration: 8-week summer position - Anticipated Start Date: June 29, 2026 - Hours: 35 hours per week - Wage: $22.00 per hour Job Description We are seeking compassionate, energetic, and community-minded youth leaders to join our summer team as Arts and Recreation Leaders. This position is ideal for individuals interested in childcare, recreation, arts programming, education, youth engagement, or community services. Our organization delivers recreational childcare programming for children and facilitates community engagement events throughout the summer. Successful candidates will support the development and well-being of children while helping create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment through creative arts activities, recreation, educational programming, and attentive caregiving. Team members will work collaboratively to provide positive experiences for children, families, and the broader community while gaining valuable leadership and workplace experience. Responsibilities - Supervise and monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety and well-being - Plan and lead age-appropriate arts, recreational, and educational activities that promote creativity, learning, teamwork, and social development - Support and encourage children in creative expression through crafts, games, sports, and group activities - Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for children and families - Foster positive behaviour and respectful social interactions among participants - Support children with diverse needs by adapting activities when appropriate - Assist with community outreach initiatives and special events - Work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow staff members to support successful daily programming - Help create a fun, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all participants Qualifications - Experience working with children in childcare, camps, recreation, education, arts programming, or caregiving settings is considered an asset - Compassionate, patient, and dependable attitude - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children - Current CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain - Explicit Criminal Record Check required - Responsible Adult Certification required (may be completed after hiring) Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs) To be eligible for this position through the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must: - Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment - Be legally entitled to work in Canada - Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada What You’ll Gain - Hands-on experience working with children and youth - Leadership and teamwork development - Experience in arts, recreation, and community programming - Professional workplace and communication skills - Supportive and inclusive team workplace Workplace Commitment We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all employees and participants.
