Functions of the job:

• Lead pre-estimation activities including sourcing and reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to assess project conditions, identify risks, and evaluate overall bid viability
• Analyze tender documents and provide informed recommendations on the quality and competitiveness of bid opportunities
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and develop comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labour, and equipment
• Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential cost-saving opportunities during the estimating process
• Prepare accurate and competitive bid packages within required timelines
• Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with applicable standards and regulations (CEC, COR, CWB, ESA, ISO, OESC, TSSA, and other governing bodies)
• Support the development of project scope definitions, contract documentation, and bid submissions
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination, including pricing, negotiations, and relationship management
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure alignment between estimate and execution

Who is the ideal candidate?

• 10+ years Electrical Estimating experience
• 309A Electrician (Construction and Maintenance) preferred
• PQS an asset
• Construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft, including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook
• Experience with estimating software (Accubid Anywhere an asset)
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• High level of initiative and keen interest in construction and problem solving
