Software Development Engineer In Test Qualitest Banff

Qualitest seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing robust test automation solutions while ensuring high-quality software delivery in a fast-paced agile environment. Key Responsibilities Independently design and implement cutting-edge test methodologies, including test plans and test strategies. Create, automate, and execute comprehensive test cases and test plans. Participate actively in design and code reviews to ensure testability and quality. Develop specialized testing tools and frameworks to support platform testing needs. Perform real-time troubleshooting and forensic analysis of production issues. Debug complex systems and analyze code quality to identify potential defects. Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Software Development Engineers to review requirements, contribute to design discussions, and ensure testability is built into the system. Execute both manual and automated testing as required. Document all QA activities in compliance with SDLC processes. Act as a technical point of contact during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with internal and external stakeholders. Continuously identify and drive improvements in QA processes, tools, and overall testing effectiveness. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Robust hands-on programming experience in Java (mandatory). Experience in test automation using Java, Maven, TestNG or JUnit, and Selenium. Experience working with databases such as SQL Server or NoSQL databases. Experience with GitLab pipelines or other CI/CD tools. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with technologies such as JavaScript, JSON, DOM, HTML, and React Native or AngularJS. Knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies. Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum and Kanban). Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, or similar tools, with responsible usage to improve productivity.
