Teacher Mentor– Inclusive Education

Continuing, full time (1.0 FTE). Effective September 8, 2026. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Instruction– Inclusive Education, the Teacher Mentor – Inclusive Education provides classroom‑embedded expertise, coaching, and collaborative support to teachers to strengthen inclusive, strength‑based instructional practices across schools. This role emphasizes shared qualified learning, reflective practice, and peer mentorship, supporting educators to meet the diverse strengths, identities, and learning profiles of students within inclusive school communities.Instructional Mentorship&Collaborative Practice

Work alongside teachers in inclusive classrooms to model, co-design, and reflect on neuro‑affirming, strengths‑based instructional practices. Support application of evidence‑based approaches including UDL, MTSS, and PBIS. Support consistent, ethical approaches to identification, planning and progress monitoring for students with complex learning needs.Serve as a collaborative thinking partner for inclusive planning and instruction. Capacity Building– Accountability

Embed equity‑focused practice and Indigenous perspectives authentically into learner supports. Support ethical, consistent approaches to instructional planning and progress monitoring. Support audit readiness, data quality, and documentation related to inclusive education services. Collaboration&Relationship– Centered Practice

Foster positive, relationship‑centered collaboration with teachers, learning support staff, and itinerant specialists to support problem‑solving and instructional practice. Support respectful collaboration with families when appropriate. Collaborate respectfully and meaningfully with local Indigenous Nations, leadership,and community partners to support student success.Inclusive Learning Environments

Champion inclusive, welcoming, and accessible learning environments. Support positive behaviour and well‑being practices through collaboration. Qualifications&Experience

Master's degree in Inclusive Education, or a related field, or demonstrated progress toward completion. Valid BC Teaching Certificate. Well‑developed knowledge of inclusive instructional approaches responsive to diverse learning profiles, with the ability to model these approaches in practice.Demonstrated experience with assistive and augmentative technology. Demonstrated ability to lead professional learning that supports instructional improvement, inclusive practices, and reflective professional dialogue among colleagues. Experience working collaboratively in a unionized public school environment.Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills. Access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel independently between work locations are required conditions of employment.
