Office Assistant Environmental Water Program - Canada Summer Jobs Program Do work that matters. Grow with a positive, cooperative team. Water First is looking for creative, enthusiastic relationship-builders to support sustainable access to safe, clean water in partnership with Indigenous communities across Canada. To ensure Indigenous perspectives lead discussions about work with Indigenous communities, we integrate consultation with Indigenous staff, the Indigenous Advisory Council, community partners, and Indigenous members of our Board of Directors. We respect and value Indigenous cultural traditions and practices in our workplaces, including the burning of medicines such as tobacco, sage, cedar, and sweetgrass. All employees are expected to maintain strong Indigenous historical and cultural awareness and commit to ongoing learning to support respectful, informed approaches throughout the organization. This role involves mainly assisting activities related to an internship program, while gaining office experience in professional writing, planning, and data analysis all under the direction of the Senior manager of Environmental Water. This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. To be eligible for this role, candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment, and legally entitled to work in Canada Start Date: June 5, 2026 Work Location: Hybrid position with a combination of on-site supervision at our 10 Francis Street location in Creemore, ON and remote work. The position could involve up to a maximum of 3 weeks away from the Water First office Job Type: Contract 15 weeks Salary range: $22 / hr Water First supports progressive labour policies, including: - Noojimo Health for all Indigenous staff Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: - Organizing inventory and digital files - Supporting team meetings - Creating content with the communications team - Conduct internet research, data entry and/or data analysis related to environmental water projects - Preparing for and participating in environmental training workshops - Traveling to remote Indigenous communities - Assisting with teaching and technical content development. - Learn scientific techniques for water quality and fish habitat monitoring - Gain remote fieldwork experience, including hands-on training on scientific instruments used for water quality and fish habitat monitoring The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following: Qualifications: - Post-secondary level education preferred Skills: - Collaboration and Teamwork - Strong Communication - Problem-solving & Critical thinking - Time Management Please Note: - Water First’s standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm Eastern Time, with reasonable accommodations for flex-time. - All applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and possess a valid Social Security Number (SIN). - Candidates will be required to undergo a Vulnerable Sector security check as a condition of employment.
