Host/Hostess (Collingwood)

Job Overview The Host/Hostess at Pur & Simple is the first point of contact for our guests. This role is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and organized front-of-house experience. The host/hostess manages the flow of guests, coordinates seating, and supports a smooth service setting while maintaining Pur & Simple’s standards for hospitality and efficiency. Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience - Greet all guests promptly with a friendly, positive attitude. - Provide menus, answer basic questions about the restaurant, and ensure guests feel welcome. - Manage the waitlist when required and provide accurate wait-time estimates. - Escort guests to their tables and ensure they are comfortably seated. Service Coordination - Maintain an organized seating chart to support balanced server sections. - Communicate table statuses clearly with servers, bussers, and management. - Assist with phone calls, including reservations, inquiries, and takeout orders (if applicable). - Monitor restaurant flow and adjust seating strategy during busy periods. Cleanliness & Presentation - Keep the host stand area tidy, stocked, and organized at all times. - Assist in keeping entrance areas clean and welcoming. - Help with resetting tables when needed to support smooth service turnover. Teamwork & Communication - Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and managers to ensure efficient operations. - Communicate guest needs, special requests, or concerns promptly to the appropriate team members. - Support the front-of-house team with additional tasks during peak hours. Qualifications & Skills - Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor. - Strong communication and customer service skills. - Ability to multitask and stay calm during high-volume periods. - Previous experience in a restaurant or customer service role (an asset but not required). - Ability to stand for extended periods. - Availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays.
