Job Summary Reporting to the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Catholic classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting and provide supervision and age appropriate Catholic programming for groups of students. This position works 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday; schedule to be determined by the principal. Required Qualifications - A two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration and positive standing with The College of Early Childhood Educators (photocopy of registration certificate required) - Minimum of six months childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting - Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (photocopy of certificates required) Skills & Competencies - Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning program and related legislation; knowledge of SMCDSB related polices and procedures. - Proven ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team. - Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public - Understanding of commitment to confidentiality. - Proven ability to deal with classroom management, stressful and emergency situations. - Demonstrated experience in successfully designing, planning and implementing age appropriate Catholic programs. - Basic computer skills, strong organization and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. - Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program, and must be able to physically assist children as required and repetitive bending.
