ABOUT THE POSITION The Electrical Designer/Engineer is primarily responsible for creating electrical drawings and associated documentation in support of the Electrical Engineering Department. This role collaborates closely with Engineering, Sales, Service, and Manufacturing to interpret customer requirements and translate them into accurate electrical and control system designs. In addition to design work, the successful candidate will play a hands-on role in machine setup, transferring PLC programs, configuring control hardware, and supporting testing, and commissioning activities. Key Deliverables Prepares detailed 3-phase, single-phase and low-voltage DC electrical drawings including panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Create electrical bills of material, purchased parts lists, cable routing, and operational notes. Processes sales orders and work orders. Interacts with Engineering, Sales, Service to determine/confirm customer requirements Coordinates with Procurement to ensure long lead time items may be identified and addressed Assists in determining power requirements, troubleshooting of electrical systems, and aiding installations. Supports softwarerelated tasks including PLC program transfers, equipment configuration, network setup and participation in FAT and software validation. Key Activities & Responsibilities Assists in determining power requirements, troubleshooting of electrical systems, and aiding in installations and permitting for customers. Supports as necessary lending assistance in electrical and controls troubleshooting. Participates in machine setup, including transferring PLC programs, configuring PLC/HMI devices, and performing initial system checks. Performs basic PLC and HMI programming, as well as minor network design and configuration for equipment; final programming and design work will be reviewed and approved by the Electrical Team Leader. Supports the work order process by attending sales order meetings to gather/confirm electrical design requirements. Team-oriented electrical print checking Timely and accurate correction/resolution of drawing errors Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and activities as assigned. To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are: Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering and have or is working toward a recognized professional engineering designation. Experience with AutoCAD. Experience with EPLAN, and Solidworks considered an asset. Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations. Ability to select proper components, size starters, breakers, wiring and conduit. Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical drawings. Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits. Knowledge of PLCs; minor programming/configuration experience considered an asset. Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime as needed.
