Position Occupational Therapist
Department Rehabilitation
Reports To Manager, Medicine and Rehabilitation
Overview CGMH is an 84‑bed acute care hospital serving the Collingwood region. The Occupational Therapist will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, managing all occupational therapy aspects of inpatient patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assess patients referred for inpatient occupational therapy services.
Develop appropriate treatment programs based on patients’ abilities and limitations, setting short‑ and long‑term goals and coordinating referrals to other services.
Implement treatment plans and delegate supervised acts as appropriate.
Educate and inform patients and families throughout treatment to maximize functional return.
Reassess patient progress and goals continually to ensure progression of treatment.
Support the development and implementation of best‑practice occupational therapy models.
Provide input to physicians and other team members through discussions, interdisciplinary conferences, and record maintenance.
Maintain and submit statistical records of daily patient and non‑patient activity.
Ensure patient safety and enforce safety in the treatment area.
Adhere to occupational therapy college requirements.
Supervise assistants by instructing and monitoring their provision of client care.
Continuously improve occupational therapy knowledge through in‑hospital and continuing education activities.
Provide high‑quality occupational therapy services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Completed a Master’s in Occupational Therapy with at least 32 weeks of clinical experience under a registered occupational therapist.
Dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
Adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act duties.
Effective written and verbal communication in English; additional language skills considered an asset.
Basic computer skills.
Commitment to professional growth and development.
Ability to perform essential duties including physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
Demonstrated excellent attendance and performance record.
Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
Preferred
One year experience in an acute care hospital.
