Job Summary A dishwasher is responsible for operating the dishwasher to properly clean all dishes and cooking utensils used in the kitchen, restaurant and banquets, as well as scrubbing pots and re‑stocking all supplies in the assigned areas. General kitchen cleaning duties include cleaning and mopping the kitchen floors and trash removal.
Responsibilities
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils using the dishwasher or by hand in the 3‑compartment sink if necessary.
Restock all clean glasses, silverware and plates.
Perform general cleaning to stay in compliance with the health department, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and wiping down equipment such as slicers, refrigerators, freezers, hot boxes, ice machines, and the like.
Puts away food stuffs and dry goods in their proper location, rotating first in, first out.
Puts away all supplies and chemicals in their proper location.
Inform supervisor when the kitchen is running low on necessary items, especially chemicals and supplies used in the dish area.
Assist with food preparation, plating, garnishing, etc. as needed.
Remove the trash from all containers, taking it to the dumpster located on the loading dock.
Remove all recyclables from the kitchen and dispose of them appropriately; cardboard broken down and put in the cardboard bin, glass placed in the glass bin, etc.
Clean trash receptacles, recycling containers, and other waste containers as needed to prevent odors and pest infestation.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to work while standing on your feet for an extended period of time.
Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
Sufficient manual dexterity of hand to load and unload the dishwasher, handle all sorts of kitchen equipment, knives, slicing blades, etc.
