Shaw University is looking for Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty, Computer Science/CIS/Cyber Operations. A grant funded position. Reporting to the Department Head, School of Business and Professional Studies, the Adjunct Faculty, Computer Science is responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Science (CS), and Cyber Operations (CSC) degree programs.Essential Job Functions: Teaching all levels of undergraduate Computer Science (CS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Cyber Operations (CSC) courses (teaching load is up to 9 credit hours per semester) Maintaining professional scholarship Advising students, if needed but not required Effectively manages the classroom environmentDevelop, maintains, and submits accurate, timely and complete records (attendance, assignments, grades, end of course notebooks, etc.) Conducting active research Participation in course and curriculum development, if needed Serve the College, the University, and the profession and community as appropriateDiscuss matters related to the students in the applicable program Disseminates information to students relating to internships and job opportunities, research, seminars, graduate schools, supporting programs, tutoring, etc. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Supervisory Responsibilities NoneMinimum Job Qualifications Education and/or Experience Master’s in Computer Science or closely related field required; Ph.D. preferred Demonstrated potential for effective teaching and a strong record of scholarly activity in high quality peer-reviewed journals and conferences Computer architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Programming, operating systems,and networking / cybersecurity expertise preferredConducting research preferred Certificates, Licenses or Registrations Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), which normally include at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justifications.Other Competencies Must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization. Vision, commitment, and experience in achieving goals and pursuing excellence are critical. Strong oral and written presentation skills. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Excellence in organization, decision-making, problem-solving, and creating a collaborative environment. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.Physical Demands Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying. Specific vision abilities include the ability to use close vision.
