The Opportunity We are currently seeking a

Mill Operator 4

to join our

Concentrator Operations

team in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This is a permanent on-site position, working 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule.

As a Mill Operator 4, you will work within the nine circuits: crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, reagents, paste plant, tailings and water management, concentrator central control room, and/or paste plant control room. Your experience and skills will aid in following standard operating procedures, monitoring equipment and process performance, troubleshooting mechanical and process problems, and completing operator reports.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-operational checks and operate equipment according to standard operating procedures.

Monitor equipment and processes.

Conduct troubleshooting activities when problems arise and interact with the Control Room Operator and the Supervisor as required to correct.

Complete operator reports and ensure that equipment deficiencies and operational issues are communicated to the supervisor.

Perform minor equipment repairs and support maintenance activities as required.

Complete training modules, exercises, and testing required to progress to the Mill Operator 1 Level.

About You Education

Completed a minimum of Grade 10 or Equivalent.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of operating experience in a mineral processing plant with experience in 4 of the following circuits: crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, reagents, paste plant, tailings and water management, concentrator central control room, or paste plant control room.

Experience operating a forklift and/or overhead cranes would be considered an asset.

Skills

Basic understanding of mineral processing theory and practice.

Familiar with the process flowsheet and with the equipment and its function.

Familiar with the safe work practices and standard operating procedures of the concentrator.

Able to recognize hazards in an industrial workplace and understands his or her role in assessing and managing risk.

Able to apply logical thinking to solve problems and“trouble‑shoot” abnormal situations to correct mechanical or process problems.
