Accountabilities

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below: General duties: Responsible for a combination of light cleaning duties to maintain defined work areas. Ensure weekly upkeep of the facilities: empty all garbage receptacles, put garbage out for designated garbage day, return recycling and composite bins when emptied. Vacuum carpeted areas, sweep tiled areas, wash floors and baseboards, clean all glass areas, windows and ledges using a ladder when needed, dust offices and furnishings. Wipe down tables, chairs, door handles; checks, cleans, moves, arranges, and dusts furniture as required. If applicable, ensure kitchen cleanliness: clean and polish sinks, toilets, countertops, mirrors, and fixtures; clean washrooms, restock hand sanitizers, and distribute received material as required. Identify and report to supervisor any repairs that may require external service provider. Check doors and windows for building security. Perform minor repairs such as electrical (change light bulbs) and plumbing (unblocking toilets, troubleshooting flushing issues), wall painting, light furniture fixing (tighten screws). Report safety concerns and major repair issues to supervisor. Perform spot cleaning of accessible walls, strip and wax floors, spot cleaning, and shampoo carpets as required. Monitor and maintain mixed cleaner bottles for custodial use, ensuring all bottles contain WHMIS compliant labeling. Contribute to the overall safety of staff, volunteers, donors, clients, and guests by clearing fire exits, cleaning spills, removing obstacles inside/outside the buildings. Use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by employer. Report any workplace hazards, dangers, safety issues, injuries, or illnesses immediately and ensure care is taken with all equipment and property. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Health and Safety – Monitor and maintain mixed cleaner bottles for custodial use. Ensure WHMIS compliant labeling. Contribute to the overall safety of staff, volunteers, donors, clients, and guests. Use personal safety equipment and clothing. Report hazards immediately and ensure care.Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada. Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory, including Child Check if appropriate. Minimum 6 months custodial and/or maintenance experience required. Education and Certifications

High School Diploma Related maintenance education/certificates would be an asset Skills and Capabilities

Dependable Excellent communication skills Friendly disposition Ability to lift an average weight of 25 lbs with a maximum of 50 lbs; assistance required if exceeds 25 lbs Valid criminal record check with vulnerable sector Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $16.35 to $19.50 with a maximum of $22.64. Placement in the salary range will be based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role. Work Conditions

Working environment is typically in the corps building, generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor duties. Days and hours: 6 hours per week, mainly weekdays. Accommodation
