Langley Farm Market is a growing small‑format grocery chain specializing in high‑quality, specialty foods sourced from local suppliers. With six locations across Metro Vancouver, we offer a diverse range of fresh produce, premium meats, specialty groceries, baked goods, and delicatessen items.Reporting to the CEO, the Accounting Manager will oversee financial processes for either our warehouse/head office or retail operations, strengthen internal controls, and lead a growing accounting team for the company. This role requires basic verbal proficiency of Cantonese or Mandarin, with daily communications being primarily in English.Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations&Reporting
Manage day‑to‑day accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, expense management, and statutory tax filings. Oversee payroll processing end‑to‑end, ensuring accurate time‑clock integration, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, and compliance with BC labour standards.Monitor and reconcile all sales data, including daily sales reports, POS system outputs, e‑payment processor settlements, merchant fees, and bank deposits across all companies. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, cash flow reports, and year‑end working papers; liaise with external accountants for corporate tax filings.Monitor and analyze cash flow, prepare budgets, and develop financial forecasts to support strategic decision‑making and optimize working capital. Manage capital asset accounting, including acquisitions, amortization schedules, and accruals for payroll and expenses. Prepare and submit WorkSafeBC filings, including employer payroll reports, rate assessments, and claims documentation.Support import‑related financial requirements by validating tariff codes, duty rates, taxes, landed costs, and currency exchange impacts on inventory purchases, payables, and receivables. Internal Controls, Systems&Process Improvement
Oversee and enhance inventory control procedures in alignment with warehouse operations to maintain accurate system data. Support periodic physical inventory counts, reconcile variances, and work with warehouse teams to address root causes and implement corrective actions. Ensure full compliance with GAAP/IFRS, GST/PST, payroll deductions, WCB, Employer Health Tax, corporate tax installments, and other regulatory obligations.Evaluate accounting systems and processes; identify and implement automation and workflow improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency. Support applications and reporting for grants, interest‑free loans, and other external funding programs. Leadership, Collaboration&Strategic Support
Lead, mentor, and train accounting staff, ensuring clear delegation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Store Operations, HR, Marketing, and external stakeholders (vendors, customers, banks, government agencies). Support the CEO with strategic planning, budgeting, risk management, procurement, and contract or supplier negotiations.Assist with company‑wide initiatives and special projects, including system upgrades and IT improvements. Qualifications
8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a leadership role. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience with Sage 50 and EasyPay is an asset. Experience with import tariffs and customs documentation is an asset. Strong experience in inventory control, warehouse/wholesale accounting, and FMCG environments.Basic verbal proficiency in Cantonese/Mandarin is required.
