Senior Supervisor - Controls Systems Design Engineering
to spearhead the architecture and deployment of sophisticated building automation solutions. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a technical linchpin, translating complex project requirements into high-performance control algorithms and intuitive user interfaces that define the next generation of smart building infrastructure. Beyond technical execution, you will provide critical leadership by mentoring emerging engineering talent and mitigating operational risks through rigorous validation and cross‑functional collaboration with our sales and project teams. This is a premier opportunity for a strategic problem‑solver to drive engineering excellence, uphold stringent industry standards, and deliver innovative, scalable systems that optimize building performance for our global clientele.
This is a predominant office base role (from our office in the Greater Vancouver Area) with some travel to job sites. Candidates across Canada who are willing to relocate to Vancouver are also invited to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Design and program advanced building automation systems, site‑specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.
Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming and implementation.
Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
Develop graphical and text‑based interfaces for building automation systems.
Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.
Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.
Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
Support of functional testing for complex building systems.
Provide technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
Manage design, drafting, and validation activities to ensure smooth and effective operations.
Check completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
Basic Qualifications
University degree with 4+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation
OR
College, technical qualification or completed trade school with 6+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation
OR
High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of design experience in HVAC controls or Building Automation
Preferred Qualifications
Manage/supervise a team
EDS software knowledge
Advanced degree in Engineering or Construction discipline.
Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
Proficient with primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools, Automated Logic suites.
Strong working knowledge of complex Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add‑ons, and services.
Proficient with third‑party communication protocols used in building automation, such as
BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.
Understand Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio, or similar software.
Proficient with written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of systems.
Translate technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50 lbs.
Additional information This position doesn’t support immigration sponsorship.
Pay Range The expected base salary range for this role is between $89,500.00 CAD - $139,500.00 CAD annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, as well as possible retirement contributions.
Other Compensation This role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
