Truck Driver & Retail Associate Location: Cornwall, ON Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week, weekends required) Reports To: ReStore Manager Position Summary Habitat for Humanity Cornwall & The Counties is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Truck Driver / Retail Associate to support ReStore operations. This role combines commercial driving, customer service, and retail responsibilities. The successful candidate will safely operate company vehicles for donation pickups and deliveries, assist with merchandising and sales, and contribute to a positive and safe environment for customers, staff, and volunteers. As a keyholder, this role also includes responsibility for opening/closing procedures and supporting store operations. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, physically capable, customer-focused, and motivated to contribute to a mission-driven organization. Key Responsibilities Driving & Logistics - Operate company vehicles (including up to 22-foot trucks) in compliance with Ontario regulations, including the Highway Traffic Act and applicable commercial vehicle requirements - Perform and document daily vehicle inspections - Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donations and purchased items - Complete delivery logs and required documentation accurately - Ensure safe material handling practices at all times Retail & Customer Service - Provide professional, courteous, and inclusive customer service - Represent Habitat for Humanity positively to donors, customers, and the public - Assist customers on the sales floor and with purchases - Support pricing, merchandising, and inventory organization - Ensure donated goods meet ReStore quality and safety standards; decline items respectfully when required - Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash in accordance with procedures Store Operations & Team Support - Act as a keyholder, including opening/closing the store and responding to alarm calls if required - Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free retail and warehouse environment - Support secure and efficient inventory flow - Assist with training, supervising, and supporting volunteers - Communicate effectively with team members and management - Support other departments and perform additional duties as assigned Health & Safety Compliance - Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and all workplace safety policies - Identify and report hazards, incidents, and injuries promptly - Ensure aisles and workspaces remain clear of hazards - Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including CSA-approved steel-toe footwear - Promote a culture of safety for staff, volunteers, and customers Qualifications & Requirements - Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence or higher, with a clean driver’s abstract and insurability - Demonstrated experience operating commercial vehicles (minimum 22-foot truck preferred) - Experience completing vehicle inspections and maintaining driver logs - Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs (23 kg) on a regular basis - Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., moving furniture and appliances in varied environments) - Strong customer service and communication skills - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team - Basic retail, warehouse, or logistics experience considered an asset - Bilingualism (English/French), First Aid, and CPR certifications are assets - Clear criminal record check required prior to employment Working Conditions & Employment Standards - Hours of work, overtime, rest periods, and public holiday pay are provided in accordance with the Employment Standards Act (Ontario) - Work schedule includes weekends, with flexibility to cover evenings, holidays, and additional shifts as required - Work involves both indoor retail and outdoor loading/unloading in varying weather conditions Why Work With Us?
