HISTORICAL INTERPRETER (student - multiple positions available) Hours of Work
Variable up to 36.25 hours per week Location
Upper Canada Village (11 km east of Morrisburg) Salary
$18.45 per hour Period of Employment
May to September 2026 Responsibilities
Represent one of Morrisburg’s premium and internationally recognized tourism sites. Interpret the history of 1860s Ontario through performing and explaining a selection of activities (domestic life, historical trades, farming, general store, mills, school, religion, period music, etc.). Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor. Embody SLPC’s equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests. Qualifications
Ability to communicate and interpret effectively to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds. Knowledge of mid‑19th century Ontario history. Ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to the position and the Village. Ability to perform physical duties required for various interpretive activities on site. Ability to wear historical costume. Ability to learn and perform skills associated with domestic life and chores, a historical trade, mill work, farming and gardening. Ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to maintain personal, guest and fellow staff safety. Vulnerable service sector check required. EEO Statement
