Description
Where is the most beautiful and scenic place you've ever been? What if that was just your Tuesday? 43K Wilderness Solutions builds things most construction workers never get to touch — bridges, off-grid structures, and trail infrastructure in places most people only ever see in photos. We work in remote, off-grid wilderness across Vancouver Island — remote access, often by helicopter or boat — and we're looking for a Builder 1 to join a small, skilled crew doing exactly that. What the work actually looks like Every project is different — we rarely do the same thing twice. Framing, concrete, metal work, trail construction, off-grid installs. You'll work in a crew of two or three under a Foreperson, building infrastructure in rugged BC wilderness that serves real adventurers and the communities around them. Projects currently span Cape Scott Park, the Comox Valley, and the Juan de Fuca trail. A large portion of our work is done alongside local communities and First Nations, and we take that seriously. You'll need to be comfortable in the backcountry — this is tent and camp living on long rotations (typically 8 days on, 6 off), in all weather, without the usual amenities. We're upfront about that because the people who thrive here want exactly that. What we're looking for Must-haves: - At least 1 year of construction experience (framing, concrete, or metal) - Chainsaw and power tool experience - Backcountry comfort — hiking, camping, working in remote terrain - Class 5 license with trailer towing - Intermediate First Aid with Transportation Endorsement (required before start date) - A positive attitude and robust work ethic in close quarters with a small team Strong assets: - Work camp experience - Advanced First Aid What you'll get - $23.25–$29.50/hr depending on skills and experience - Full extended health and dental - $200 equipment allowance - Paid Personal Park Days - 8 on / 6 off schedule — real blocks of time to use them Start date: June 2026. Who we are 43K Wilderness Solutions has been building in the backcountry since 2005. Our founders met designing the North Coast Trail and never really left. Since then we've built a 44-metre cable car at the base of Canada's highest waterfall, cleared 100 kilometres of trail in some of BC's most rugged terrain, and constructed off-grid cabins accessible only by helicopter or a 17-kilometre hike. We work where you play — and we're looking for people who already know what that means. Pay: $23.25-$29.50 per hour Benefits: - Dental care - Extended health care - Flexible schedule Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pd9aa
