Prep/bakery Assistant Courtenay

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Prep/Bakery Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about the local food scene, baking, food preparation, and being a part of a skilled team. The postition will support daily bakery operations, mix and shape bakery items like cookies and granola, do other basic food prep tasks as well as help tackle dishes. Prior experience in a bakery, or food industry setting is preferred and training will be provided. This position offers an prospect to be a part of an integral and growing local food business while gaining skills and knowledge in a rapid-paced, creative environment. Duties Assist with food preparation, including mixing, measuring ingredients, and assembling baked goods Decorating pastries using various techniques Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently Package baked products for sale or delivery while maintaining quality standards Maintain cleanliness and an organized work space including helping with dishes Follow food handling and safety procedures diligently to ensure product quality and safety standards are met Qualifications Previous experience in baking, food preparation, or kitchen work is prefered but not mandatory; training will be provided Knowledge of pastry shaping and decorating techniques is an asset Strong understanding of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures Ability to work in as an integral member of a team efficiently, in a quick-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail is ideal Experience with packaging baked goods for retail or wholesale purposes is a plus Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends is a must Join our team and help us continue to. create delicious baked goods that delight our customers!
