Description
Carpenter– 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Current pay is $35.94 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits. Duties/Responsibilities
Performed under the supervision of the Manager of Operations or designated supervisor, normally requiring general instruction only, exercising sound judgement regarding method of work. Worked on layout and manufacture of varied types of millwork. Worked on projects involving renovations to school buildings and associated structures.Documented a wide range of building and equipment conditions and maintained basic maintenance and preventative maintenance records. Installed, repaired or replaced locks, door hardware, furniture, and performed other maintenance tasks as required. Provided leadership to other maintenance employees (if required).Provided work reports, assisted in cost estimating, and material selection. Worked closely with other maintenance tradespeople in maintaining district facilities. Followed proper work procedures, observed all regulations pertinent to the work, maintained valuable working relationships with other employees and cooperated in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment.Performed other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Qualifications
Grade 12 education supplemented by completion of the British Columbia Technical Qualification in carpentry. Minimum three years’ current experience as a skilled tradesperson at the senior level, with a demonstrated high level of technical competency. Competent in the use of all hand and power tools required for the trade.Ability to operate all types of woodworking machines. Ability to lay out, assign, and check the work of assistants performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to estimate projects and select appropriate materials. Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence and licence appropriate to the type of equipment/vehicle being operated.Meets the physical requirements of the position. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To Apply
