0.50 FTE Grades 6-9 Blended Learning HLC Teacher– Outdoor Learning Must be able to provide face‑to‑face instruction in Invermere, BC. Temporary position is subject to enrollment. The Heartwood Learning Communities (HLC) are blended learning programs with students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. HLC teachers support students in multi‑grade classes, with diverse needs and abilities. Each HLC is unique in its face‑to‑face offering and students may be face‑to‑face up to 2.5 days per week. During the home learning days, our educators support families across multiple platforms, spend time planning and collaborate with their gradegroup colleagues and the greater HLC community.The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate
Training, certification and/or direct experience teaching in an online learning (OL) or blended program in British Columbia. Experience in place‑based/experiential learning. Wilderness First Aid is an asset; must have Standard First Aid. Experiential learning in an outdoor setting. Outdoor leadership.Demonstrated experience and commitment to working collaboratively as part of a teacher team advancing methods in curriculum integration, project‑based learning and personalization in multi‑grade classrooms. Demonstrated ability to create online learning resources for learners and families (e.g., using Desire to Learn, Google Classroom).Advanced skills teaching with e‑portfolios (Seesaw), blogs (Seesaw), websites and supporting Assessment for Learning (AFL) practices. Dedication to developing and delivering a broad range of parent workshops and supporting co‑facilitation of student learning. Skill and experience coordinating and integrating community‑based programs.Our educational team is committed to engaging learners to develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and social competencies. Our educators use and develop best practices through meaningful and purposeful collaboration and inquiry. As lifelong learners themselves, our educators embrace diversity, apply assessment for learning approaches, and integrate technology in meaningful ways to personalize learning. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to embrace and share the district’s commitments outlined above and model its principles in their practice.Salary range is in accordance with the BC Teachers Federation.
