Responsibilities: - Provides leadership and oversight of the project Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management framework on behalf of the owner, ensuring contractor compliance with WorkSafeBC legislation, contractual requirements, and corporate safety policies and standards. - Conducts assurance, monitoring, and auditing of contractor safety performance, including site inspections and reviews to identify risks, trends, and non-compliance and to verify timely and effective corrective actions. - Acts as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to project leadership, supporting safety risk management, hazard identification, incident prevention, and the integration of safety-in-design principles throughout all phases of project delivery. - Oversees the investigation, reporting, and follow-up of safety incidents and high-potential events, ensuring regulatory obligations are met, root causes are identified, and preventative measures are implemented and tracked to closure. - Promotes a consistent and proactive safety culture across the project environment through collaboration with contractors, workers, regulators, and internal stakeholders, and by contributing to governance reporting, executive briefings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
