Production Assembly Shop Assistant/Helper (Delta)

About the Job: SUMMARY: General shop duties under supervision, including providing assembly assistance, parts cleaning, assisting in shop organization, and maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS: Academic: - Grade 12 diploma preferred. Courses in mechanical/electrical technology are an asset. Work Experience: - Some mechanical/electrical assembly and/or metal fabrication experience or equivalent preferred. Experience in the use of pneumatic tools is an asset. Forklift certification is required. Other: - Ability to read blueprints, competence in mathematics is an asset. Good computer skills an asset. Ability to lift 35 lbs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in organizing, cleaning, and pressure washing parts. - Assist assemblers under supervision. - Pallet/crate building. - Crating and packaging for shipping. - Shop maintenance, including general weekly cleaning, organizing, and odd jobs. - Empty recycling bins, change garbage bags, and assist with replenishing paper supply if need be. - Keep an accurate record of time charged to each job. - Full comprehension of safety requirements. - Other duties as required. - English spoken and written comprehension is required. - Forklift certification is a requirement prior to or upon hiring. Working Hours: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 6:30 AM to 2:10 PM on Friday. Compensation & Benefits: - Fair market wage is based on skills and experience. - Corporate medical and dental plan after 3 months. - Vacation, Tool, and Boot allowance. - Sick Benefits are all based on accrued perks after probationary periods.
