Salary: $73,462-$91,828 annually (pro-rated for term of employment and depending on qualifications and experience)

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union Employees (AVRCE).
The Transportation Supervisor will report to and work under the direction of the Coordinator of Transportation. The Transportation Supervisor manages all aspects of the AVRCE fleet, including Hants West, Kings County and Annapolis County, ensuring vehicles are maintained in accordance with Provincial Regulations, Federal Regulations and Centre Policies, and supervising fleet maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
Motivates employees, including performance appraisals, and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment.
Supervise maintenance staff in all areas of AVRCE including shop inventory clerks, mechanics, and motor vehicle body repairer.
Create and maintain a maintenance plan each school year including plans for the body shop, undercoating, inspections and preventative maintenance checks. Review and update annually.
Liaise with area supervisors to ensure vehicles are delivered to shops for scheduled service/repair.
Ensure maintenance staff provide a level of service that promotes courtesy, efficiency and safety that is consistent in all three shops.
Participate in the interview, selection, hiring, and training of all maintenance staff.
Ensure maintenance staff are fully conversant with and follow established standards, rules, and regulations.
Monitor staff licensing requirements to ensure compliance with Provincial and Centre policies.
Liaise with the Coordinator of Transportation, to ensure all maintenance and repair processes are compliant as approved by the bus/van manufacturer or third-party engineer.
Manage computer maintenance systems for example, Zonar, Bus Planner Fleet, JPro and Cameras.
Ensure all staff follow safety processes and protocols and ensure the garages are a safe working environment.
Manage and monitor work going out to 3rd party vendors, ensuring AVRCE receives quality work staying within budget.
Qualifications
Effective communication techniques using tact and professionalism is required.
Strong organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills is required.
Previous successful experience in a supervisory position is required.
Five years successful experience in Transportation Management work experience is preferred.
Post-Secondary or specialized training in Transportation Management preferred.
Hold a valid Class 2B Nova Scotia Driver’s License with air brake endorsement.
Advanced facility with computer software, including GPS vehicle tracking, digital mapping, word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and email.
