Job Description Job Summary
The Millwright / Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports overall production uptime, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Maintenance&Equipment Repair
Perform mechanical repairs, maintenance, and installation on machinery, tools, and industrial equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues.
Conduct inspections and diagnose root causes of equipment failures.
Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication when required.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe, serviceable condition.
Support major equipment overhauls and rebuilds.
Preventive Maintenance
Carry out routine preventive maintenance activities according to schedules.
Document all maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts used.
Recommend improvements to reduce future breakdowns and increase equipment reliability.
Safety&Compliance
Follow all EHS policies, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and safe work practices.
Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns promptly.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.
Operational Support
Assist production teams with equipment setup, changeovers, and adjustments.
Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
Collaborate with supervisors and operators to minimize downtime and resolve technical issues.
Qualifications Qualifications
3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or millwright work.
Millwright trade certification or relevant industrial maintenance experience considered an asset.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical.
Experience with welding, cutting, and fabrication preferred.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues independently.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Computer literacy for maintenance documentation requirements.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and adjustments.
Problem‑solving ability, especially in situations with limited standardization.
Physical Demands
Regular standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Use of hands for handling tools, parts, and equipment.
Occasional kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
Regular lifting and moving of materials; items over 50 lbs require assistance or mechanical support.
Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to see details at close range.
Willingness to work overtime or respond to urgent maintenance needs as required.
Industrial manufacturing environment with high noise levels— hearing protection required.
Required use of PPE including safety footwear, gloves, eye protection, and other equipment as needed.
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, or cold).
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, welding equipment, and various maintenance tools.
