AZ/DZ Driver (Amherst)

We are currently seeking a full time AZ Driver to join the team in our Amherst, NS shop. The Driver will be responsible for hauling deliveries of steel to a variety of customers. The Driver is responsible for safely operating and driving a highway tractor and flatbed trailer combination/Straight Truck, as well as contributing to the overall success of the Mansteel Rebar team. Duties & Responsibilities: - Safe operation and driving of straight or highway tractor trucks to transport goods and materials - Strapping down loads and hauling reinforcing steel on a flat-bed trailer - Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, and brakes and conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. - Minor truck maintenance i.e adding oiling, fueling. - Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness - Responsible for completing a pre and post inspection of the vehicle each day before operating. - Responsible for documenting all inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order. - Assist with shunting trailers, assisting with loading and off-loading of trailers at select yards/sites. - Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and working in a variety of environments, both internal and external in all types of weather conditions. - Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities. Requirements: - Valid AZ License /Air brake (Z) endorsement - Minimum 3 years of driving experience with an AZ license - Experience hauling steel would be an asset - Clean Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate - Strong communication skills - Following all PPE requirements - Sound knowledge of safe driving practices - Comfortable opperating an Electronic Log Book (ELB) and company cell phone. - Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset - Previous experience in machine operation is an asset Job Types: Full time, Permanent Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour Benefits: - Extended health care Licence/Certification: - AZ Driver's License (required) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2p6g9j
