Az/dz Driver Amherst

We are currently seeking a full time AZ Driver to join the team in our Amherst, NS shop. The Driver will be responsible for hauling deliveries of steel to a variety of customers. The Driver is responsible for safely operating and driving a highway tractor and flatbed trailer combination/Straight Truck, as well as contributing to the overall success of the Mansteel Rebar team. Duties & Responsibilities: Safe operation and driving of straight or highway tractor trucks to transport goods and materials Strapping down loads and hauling reinforcing steel on a flat-bed trailer Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, and brakes and conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Minor truck maintenance i.e adding oiling, fueling. Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness Responsible for completing a pre and post inspection of the vehicle each day before operating. Responsible for documenting all inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order. Assist with shunting trailers, assisting with loading and off-loading of trailers at select yards/sites. Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and working in a variety of environments, both internal and external in all types of weather conditions. Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities. Requirements: Valid AZ License /Air brake (Z) endorsement Minimum 3 years of driving experience with an AZ license Experience hauling steel would be an asset Clean Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate Solid communication skills Following all PPE requirements Sound knowledge of secure driving practices Comfortable opperating an Electronic Log Book (ELB) and company cell phone.
