Grounds Maintenance Worker
Location: Various Locations (within Dieppe/Moncton) Job Type: Full-time, 35 hours per week– Canada Summer Jobs program, 8‑week position. Salary: $15.90 per hour About Us
We are a non‑profit organization providing housing and support services to adults living with mental illness across several locations in Dieppe and Moncton. We are committed to creating safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained environments that promote dignity and well‑being for all our residents.Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Grounds Maintenance Worker to help maintain the appearance, safety, and functionality of our residential properties. The successful candidate will perform a variety of outdoor maintenance tasks and light repair work across multiple locations, ensuring our grounds and facilities remain clean, attractive, and in good condition.Key Responsibilities
Perform regular gardening and landscaping duties, including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and watering. Maintain flower beds, shrubs, trees, and lawn areas (edging, fertilizing). Conduct general grounds upkeep such as raking leaves, removing litter/debris, and sweeping walkways. Carry out small painting projects, including touch‑ups on fences, trim, railings, and exterior features.Complete light household and exterior repairs, such as fixing fences, replacing light bulbs, minor carpentry, and hardware maintenance. Clean and maintain outdoor furniture, entryways, and common exterior areas. Identify and report maintenance or safety issues to the management team. Assist with minor irrigation tasks (adjusting sprinklers, basic hose repairs).Assist with various tasks associated with annual fundraising events (activity and event set up). Travel between properties as needed to complete scheduled maintenance projects. Interact respectfully with staff and residents, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Qualifications
Age between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment. Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27. Legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations (international students are not eligible; recent immigrants are eligible if Canadian Citizens or permanent residents).Student enrolled in post‑secondary education. Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general maintenance preferred. Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions. Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.Must be respectful, courteous, and sensitive to the needs of individuals with mental illness. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation considered an asset. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and social development background check. Benefits
