The RECE will demonstrate competence and dedication to the development of programs and to the care and education of young children. Educators will actively listen and respond to the children’s needs and interests as well as parent input and concerns. All aspects of the Registered Early Childhood Educator position will be performed while working within the framework of the vision, mission and program statements and the policies and procedures of DCCCCI, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual and How Does Learning Happen? Program Management · Cultivate authentic, caring, and respectful relationships and connections to create a sense of belonging among and between children, adults, and the world around them. · Create open lines of communication with the families of children in our care to generate meaningful dialogue that is responsive to the child’s development and open to feedback. · Recognize each child’s unique needs, considering culture and family preferences and design programs to further support children’s development in identified areas. · Develop curriculum consistent with the Program Statement, policies, and the Ministry of Education’s Early Years Framework: How Does Learning Happen? · Create and execute engaging, inclusive, and child led environments that foster every child’s learning and development in collaboration with colleagues. · Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including, but not limited to: child information, attendance records, sleep patterns, daily health, child development, injury reports, and completed cleaning procedures and report as required. · Maintain a clean, organized, well-sanitized, and safe early learning environment including, but not limited to: hallways, washroom, staff rooms, storage spaces, and outdoor spaces and report any needed replacement or repairs. Child Development and Behaviour Management · Educators will use a warm, responsive and inclusive approach, building positive relationships with children, families, other educators, and community partners. · RECE’s ensure the program is operating in accordance with the DCCCCI program statement, implementation policy, and the centre’s behaviour guidance practices. · RECE’s will be the experts in the Child Care and Early Years Act (2016), Duty to Report, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and How Does Learning Happen and will successfully implement the documents into their classrooms and support non-RECE educators in this process. · Educators shall ensure that children in their care are physically and emotionally safe. Skilled Responsibilities · Maintaining confidentiality at all times while following all legislative requirements as found in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2016, Duty to Report, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and all organizational policies and program statement. · Support a healthy and safe work environment by empowering colleagues to be the best they can be and by encouraging relationships based on honour, respect, and honesty. · Demonstrate effective communication and reflective practice skills while maintaining a respectful and non-judgmental attitude towards children and their families, co-workers, and community partners. · Problem solve to quickly make decisions regarding health and safety all in compliance with Dutton Child Care Centre policies and procedures and the CCEYA and clearly communicate with colleagues and the leadership team. · Attend all required meetings as requested and participate in required organizational professional opportunities while also demonstrating a desire for ongoing personal development to continue to grow professionally. · Share goals and objectives as part of a staff goal setting and performance management plan as needed. · Act as a resource to parents and colleagues, provide timely community referrals to families. · Assist in the training and mentoring of students. Administration · Maintain a punctual schedule, accurate attendance records, health checks, and report any illness or emergency in a timely fashion. · Assist with documentation in all log and communication books. · Document classroom experiences and communicate frequently with families through our documentation App. · Be familiar with and support in leading all Health and Safety and Emergency Procedures. Qualifications · ECE Diploma · Registered and in good standing with the College of ECE’s · Minimum two years related experience working with children ages 0-12 preferred · Must hold a current First Aid and CPR Certificate from a recognized provider or be willing to complete this within two months of employment · Must have satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check from within six months or be willing to complete this upon employment · Up to date immunizations Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract Pay: From $25.86 per hour Benefits: - On-site parking - Paid time off Education: - Secondary School (required) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2ptbt4
