Payroll Specialist (Canada & US)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll operations for Canadian and US employees. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing while contributing to system improvements and process optimization. You will also support ongoing enhancements, including work related to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP).

Key Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile payroll for Canada and US employees (salary, hourly, commissions, bonuses, deductions)
• Ensure compliance with federal and provincial/state regulations (CRA, IRS, employment standards)
• Support year-end activities, including T4s and US equivalents, audits, and filings
• Maintain data accuracy across payroll, HRIS, and benefits systems
• Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries in a timely manner
• Assist with system updates, testing (UAT), and continuous process improvements
• Document payroll procedures and support internal control

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in mid-to-large organizations
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and/or US payroll regulations
• Experience with payroll systems (SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) is a strong asset)
• Exposure to system implementations or upgrades is an asset
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Bilingual (French/English) preferred
• Payroll certification (PCP, CPM, FPC, CPP) is an asset
