Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, you will blend hands-on artistry with strategic green space management. This isn't a repetitive maintenance gig. What You Bring (Your Certificates and Experience): - Education & Experience: Grade 12 diploma supplemented by specialized training in Horticulture, Irrigation, Arboriculture, or Turf Management, plus 5+ years of professional landscape experience - Licences & Certifications: Valid BC driver's license. Valid BC Pesticide Applicator certificate and Level 1 First Aid (or willingness to obtain both upon hire) - Assets: BC Red Seal in Landscape Horticulture, a 2-year Horticultural Diploma, or Irrigation Certification Key Values & Attributes: - Safety & Mechanical Aptitude: A solid commitment to safe work practices, WorkSafeBC compliance, and familiarity with gas-powered grounds equipment - Adaptability: A calm, flexible attitude with the ability to adjust to seasonal maintenance requirements and shifting priorities in a dynamic campus environment - Teamwork & Leadership: A positive work ethic with the capability to collaboratively guide and mentor seasonal summer grounds staff Notes: ● Review the Position Profile on our website for more details ● Successful clearance of a Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment ● Good physical conditioning and strength are required to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, twist, and reach daily and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions ● Must be legally entitled to work in Canada ● Perks: Complimentary daily hot meals (taxable benefit) and Use of on-campus athletic centre.
