Educational Assistant (FT-Term) (Cobble Hill)

Full-Time, Term Educational Assistant to work with students grades K - 7, supporting academic and social growth. Assignment may be 1:1 or general classroom support. This position is for Monday-Thursday, with some additional Fridays. A typical day is 8:15-3:15. Start date: September 2, 2026. This is a maternity leave cover position until October 23, 2026, or upon the incumbent's return. Holidays align with school holidays. Skills & experience: Ability to manage in a fast-paced and busy environment Experience working with elementary school aged students. Ability to work effectively with co-workers, students and society members with diplomacy and professionalism. Knowledge of current child development theories and understanding of the theories behind various learning styles. Ability to support and respond to different learning styles. Specialized training is an asset. Time management skills with ability to be versatile and multitask. Ability to understand and follow a lesson plan as set out by the classroom teacher. Willingness to learn new skills. Ability to lead a group of elementary-aged students. Accepts direction from teaching staff and colleagues when appropriate. Specialized Knowledge/Education PREFERRED: Post secondary training in education-related subject areas, including special educational assistant diploma, early childhood educator diploma, behaviour intervention certificate. Current first aid certificate an asset. A criminal record check will be needed.
